From Vanessa's Desk
Even though New Year's Eve is still a long way off, I think that there is no better time than the present to make a "resolution" — we'll call it a "New You" resolution. Unlike a "New Year's" resolution, which usually ends up making you feel like a slacker about this time a year, your "New You" resolution is sure to be a wild success and you'll have fun doing it. All you have to do is pledge that you, either alone or with your spouse, family and/or friends, will try something that you've never done before in Downtown Cedar Rapids this Summer. Just one thing...no rules, restrictions, limits or boundaries, just you picking something new that you've always wanted to try and giving it a go!

When looking for inspiration, I thought of the Iowa Cultural Corridor Alliance's Joe Jennison. Joe faithfully visits about 4-5 new events in Downtown Cedar Rapids and around the Corridor each week; always coming back with great stories, unique experiences and information about the amazingly talented people we have right here in the heart of Iowa. So here is my challenge to you: attend one new event or visit one new place that you have never been before in Downtown Cedar Rapids this Summer. Need some extra incentive? I invite anyone who participates in this challenge to respond to me (before August 15, 2007) with stories, pictures, and/or anecdotes of where your “New You” resolution takes you this Summer...
