About Nucleus Retail Incubator:
Nucleus Retail Incubator is operated by Retail Entrepreneurial Center, Inc (REC) a non-profit organization dedicated to the creation and growth of small business entrepreneurship.
Located in Downtown Cedar Rapids, IA, the primary focus of REC is the operation of Nucleus, a 10,000 sq ft retail commercial location. The entire space is divided into nine (9) locations for independent, locally owned retail businesses. Prior to acceptance, retail tenants must provide a business plan, financial information and product line/inventory plans to the REC Board of Directors. Once accepted, businesses sign a 1-3 year commercial leases at approximately 75% of typical retail commercial lease rates.

Retail tenants are also program participants, as Nucleus Retail Incubator will offer a complete slate of business development programs. Planned programs included accounting, legal issues, business growth, inventory control, marketing and other programs as requested by tenants. All retail tenants will also have access to a complete business technology center, conference room and public meeting space for larger business functions.
Throughout the time of their lease, retails tenants meet on a regular basis with the Nucleus Executive Director and REC Board of Directors. At the completion of their lease, retail tenants are expected to expand and move from their Nucleus location, ideally into a larger Downtown Cedar Rapids location.
Nucleus Retail Incubator is proud to announce the January opening of our first three tenants. Located at 207 2nd Avenue SE in Downtown Cedar Rapids, this non-profit business incubator has gone from concept to reality in less than one year.

Orchid
Owned by Solomon Richards, this unique retail store will offer custom soy-candles, cosmetics, and skincare products specifically designed for minority groups. Customers are encouraged to visit this relaxing oasis and enjoy a cup of hot tea.
Downtown Drug
Owned by Chris Tuetken / Philip Pharmacies, this location will offer a complete range of pharmacy products, medical equipment, consultation and will accept most insurance and payment plans. Managed by Sara Hoskins, RPh, Downtown Drug's opening brings the return of a pharmacy for Downtown employees, residents and visitors.
Studio Zhen
Owned by Jenny Rammelsberg, Studio Zhen will offer full hair styling services, pedicures, massage therapy and retail hair products. Jenny has strong ties to Downtown Cedar Rapids and has an extensive client list.
