Downtown Farmers' Market 2010 Schedule Announced
The Cedar Rapids Downtown District is proud to announce the 2010 Downtown Farmers’ Market Schedule as well as new additions to the market season.
A record eight downtown markets are scheduled, running first and third Saturdays June through September from 7:30AM-Noon. Dates include June 5, 19, July 3, 17, August 7, 21, September 4, 18. Markets will be held on 3rd and 4th Avenues along with 2nd and 3rd Street SE.
Over two hundred vendors from the state of Iowa are confirmed for each market, taking position as one of the largest of its kind in the state of Iowa and the Midwest. The additional forty vendors to this year’s schedule are made possible from adjustments to the market map in response to the over one hundred vendors on the market wait list. Vendors will offer classic produce, meats, baked goods, flowers and artisan gifts.
While patrons will be able to enjoy the classic market elements, the Cedar Rapids Downtown District reports it will continue to offer a variety of activities throughout the morning, including cooking demonstrations, live main stage and street musical entertainment.
A new sector of the interactive portion to the day will include the use of themes for each market. Themes include Green, Health and Wellness, Bike, Fire Safety, Gardening and Local Sports. Demonstrations and activities from local experts will be aligned to the market’s specific theme.
