Serve on City Council's Volunteer Boards, Commissions and Task Forces

The City of Cedar Rapids is seeking volunteers to serve on City Council-appointed boards, commissions and task forces. While applications are accepted year round, positions are opening June 30 because 64 terms are expiring or vacant.  Some expiring members may request and City Council may reappoint some members to their positions. 

The deadline to apply is April 23 at 5:00 p.m. Applicants must reside in Cedar Rapids for most of the open positions. The following boards, commissions and task forces will have positions open:

·        Board of Adjustment

·        Board of Ethics

·        Board of Library Trustees

·        Building/Fire Board of Appeals

·        City Band Commission

·        City Planning Commission

·        Civil Rights Commission

·        Electrical Board

·        Five Seasons Facilities Commission

·        Historic Preservation Commission

·        Hotel-Motel Allocation Committee

·        Housing Board

·        Library Board of Trustees

·        Local Options Sales Tax Oversight Committee

·        Mechanical Board

·        Plumbing Board

·        Parks & Recreation Commission

·        River Recreation Commission

·        Storm Water Commission

·        Veterans Memorial Commission

·        Visual Arts Commission

The completed applications must be submitted by mail or delivered to the City Manager’s Office, 3851 River Ridge Drive NE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52402 or by e-mail to citymanager@cedar-rapids.org.
