Venue for 2009 Alliant Energy Fifth Season Race -Street Closures

The Alliant Energy Fifth Season Race is scheduled for Saturday, July 4th. The Fifth Season Race will be held from from 7:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. in Downtown Cedar Rapids. The Fifth Season Race consists of the following events: 8k run at 7:30 a.m., 5k run/walk at 8:00 a.m., youth mile run at 9:00 am, Kids Fun Run at 9:30 a.m., and Kids’ Parade at 10:00 a.m.

This year 1st Street and 2nd Street SE between 1st and 4th Avenues SE and 2nd and 3rd Avenues between 1st Street SE and 3rd Street SE will be closed from 5:00 a.m. – noon on July 4th. The streets in this area will be used for staging of the runners at the start and finish of the Fifth Season Race.

A no parking/tow away zone will be enforced on these streets from 5:00 a.m. to noon per Municipal Code Sections 61.094 and 61.094A. Spectators of the Fifth Season Race are encouraged to use the 3rd and 4th Avenue Parkades located within a few blocks of the Fifth Season Race start and finish staging area. All on-street meter and parkade parking is FREE! Parkades are handicapped-accessible and folks with special needs are encouraged to use those areas.
