The Cedar Rapids Downtown District invites the community to the third Downtown Farmers’ Market of the 2010 season on Saturday, July 3 from 7:30 a.m. to noon. The market will loop around 3rd and 4th Avenues, 2nd and 3rd Street SE and Greene Square Park in downtown Cedar Rapids.
Patrons can enjoy more than 200 vendors from the state of Iowa, making market one of the largest of its kind in the Midwest. Vendors will be on site selling traditional produce, meats, flowers, baked goods and artisan gifts.
Day Sponsor Principal Financial Group will be on site to launch their “America Rebuilds” campaign and participate in market activities.
“Ride your bike to the market” will be the theme for July 3, with representatives from the Iowa Bicycle Coalition on site providing give a ways, demonstrations and volunteer information in Greene Square Park.
While patrons can enjoy the classic market elements, the Cedar Rapids Downtown District will continue to offer a variety of entertainment and activity including a cooking demonstration hosted by Dublin and a variety of non-profit organizations from the Corridor. Entertainment for the July 3 market includes: MOvMNT Dance Company, Theatre Cedar Rapids, Jake Marzen, Junk Funk, Mark Brown, and new to the market the Eastern Iowa Brass Band, one of the most prominent amateur brass bands in the country.
The Cedar Rapids Downtown District Farmer’s Markets will continue the first and third Saturday of each month through September.
