My Favorite Part of Summer
The Downtown Farmers' Market is my favorite part of the summer,
besides being out of school. There is so much cool stuff that you can buy and see: jewelry, art, produce, candles, cookies, cakes, b-b-q sauce, cheese and (my favorite) salsa. The list goes on and on.
We go every time. It’s the only thing that gets my mom up before 9 a.m. on a Saturday! My whole family piles into the car with reusable bags in one hand and our wallets in the other. Then we just wander around. We stop at almost all of the booths. We visit my Aunt Ainsley at the
Boys & Girls Club booth in the park, and get blue slushies at the
Simply Divine candy shop. On our way out, we stop at
Zin’s so my parents can get coffee and scones. We used to go see the balloon guy,
but I'm too old for that now, so we only go when we have my younger cousins with us. We usually run into at least 20 people that my parents know and
have to stop and talk with (not my favorite part!), but I also see lots of my friends, too, so that's fun. I have to say my ABSOLUTE favorite part of the farmers market is all of the delicious food samples!!!
When we go home, we enjoy a family tradition:
lunch made from things at the Farmers' Market. My favorite is the pizza. We take a long loaf of crunchy wheat bread from Pumpernickel Place and cut it in half the long way. We use spaghetti sauce from Galasi's for the pizza sauce (I love their sauce!!!). Then we add things that we bought at the Farmers' Market like basil, peppers and cheese. A few minutes in the oven and its ready. It’s awesome! And our lunch is especially cool because
we got to meet the people who made all the ingredients.
Thanks for letting me tell you about the BEST part of summer!!
